Nights and Days at Pemberley
Nights and Days at Pemberley
By Linda Berdoll

Every time I read another ridiculous phrase used for Darcy's, ahem assets, I flash to the scenes in 10 Things I Hate About You where the guidance counselor is writing her trashy romance novel and trying to come up with different phrases for "Reginald's quivering member." Great movie, great scenes, great actress (love Allison Janney!), but all played as a joke. I just hope Linda Berdoll is joking too.
Otherwise, the book jumps all over the place at times, place and time actually. Fun book overall.

Soccer Against the Enemy
Soccer Against the Enemy: How the World's Most Popular Sport Starts and Fuels Revolutions and Keeps Dictators in Power
By Simon Kuper

More dates would be helpful! I knew maybe 1% of the names and situations he mentions. Guess the book is meant for a much bigger soccer fan than me! I was always glad when I recognized what he was talking about (ie "Hand of God"). He got to tal to a lot of interesting people, though. Very fast paced and interesting as he hopped around the world. Breezy, enjoyable. Subtitle doesn't make much sense, as that only seems to be a small point in the grand scheme of the book. He seemed to focus more on the ways politics and soccer mesh- keeping a corrupt government in power is part of that, but it was more about the day to day workings.
