The Pirate Queen

The Pirate Queen
By Susan Ronald
9781400105335 14 hours (book on CD)

Didn't like the narrators voices that much and probably should have read this instead of listening to it, since there were so many dates and costs and such. Got a little confusing at times since it jumped back and forth date wise. Still, good in-depth view of all those pirates and their excursions and the motivations of both them and the queen in letting them do all they did.

The Secular Spirit

The Secular Spirit: Life and Art at the End of the Middle Ages
Put together by the Metropolitan Museum of Art
0870990969 275p

Nice overview, nice categories of topics. But the organization was odd, there seemed to be too many explanations of pictures and too few pictures! Sometimes I couldn't figure out what the book was talking about, because none of the pictures on the page corresponded with the description. Numbers below each image would have helped. And I don't quite understand the title, since so much of the works had to do with religion and the church.

Stranded with a Spy

Stranded with a Spy
By Marline Lovelace
9780373275533 244p

Wasn't sure she'd be able to tie up such a complex story in such a small amount of time with any success, but she did! Did want to hear more about Mike and Gillian, but otherwise a very satisfying book.

Weird. Didn't understand some of the stories. The ones I did understand were very good, though.

The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict

The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict

Weighty book at times. Very, very good. Doesn't answer every question a skeptic could have, but comes pretty close!

Kingdom Come

Kingdom Come
By Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

Good ending to the series. Didn't like how it jumped around from story to story so often. As many as 3 stories were touched on in one page! Didn't make me feel as connected to the characters as I might have if there was more depth and time spent on the stories at any time.

Good, interesting history of the way schools have changed in this county, sometimes for good and sometimes for worse!

Irish Dreams

Irish Dreams
By Nora Roberts

2 books actually. Irish Rebel- sequel to Irish Thoroughbred. Cute, liked seeing the family again. Sullivan's Woman- felt like it could have been longer. Very good characters, I think she could have done much more with them.
